Expo 2020 is finally here and it’s the biggest one. With a 182-day run from October 1 through to March 31, it’s the longest one, too! Dubbed as the world’s greatest show, this much-awaited mega-event is expected to attract millions of visitors. The theme for the expo is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ and will feature 60 shows every day, 191 country pavilions, and more than 200 restaurants at the venue!
October isn’t really October without Oktoberfest, isn’t it? If you don’t feel like flying to Munich, you should know that Dubai isn’t one to get left behind and does everyone a solid by bringing the world’s most famous beer festival to you! The celebration can be experienced in multiple venues across the city including Atlantis, The Palm’s 10-day event to Topgold Dubai’s two one-litre German hops for Dhs299 offer—complete with a jumbo pretzel platter, of course!
Launched in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge is set to return on 29 October, encouraging everyone to pledge 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 days. With more than one million residents expected to get involved, this annual celebration of fitness and wellness is set to transform the emirate into the most active city in the world!
Sports junkies and adrenaline junkies can witness this heart-stopping high diving competition at Pier 7 at 8:00pm on Friday, 28 October. The venue will be lit up for the night and will feature world-famous cliff divers/daredevils, launching themselves from a 27-meter diving board at speeds of up to 85kph, for the series final!
Arguably one of the biggest events of the year, Showdown Week will see a week-long with fan events, fitness showcases and more. Culminating with two championship fights on Saturday, 30 October, Jan Blachowicz will defend his title against Glover Teixeira while Aljamain Sterling takes on Petr Yan for a rematch. As we said, this isn’t in Dubai but at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.
