JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) is a residential and commercial community built in the Dubai Marina area and measures 1.7 kms of waterfront living. It comprises 2 residential developments back to back making it the smallest double phase development in the world. Constructed by Dubai Properties in 2002, the development includes 40 towers (35 residential and 5 hotels), that can accommodate about 15,000 people split between apartments and hotel rooms. The six residential blocks include Shams, Amwaj, Rimal, Bahar, Sadaf and Murjan. Access to JBR is either by car, though parking is a challenge particularly at peak times; or by metro using either the Dubai Marina or the JLT stops which are about a 20 minute walk from the community; alternately, the Dubai Tram which opened in 2014, links from both the JLT and Dubai Marina metro stops and will take you directly to JBR; there are also ample taxis and buses in the area.
