9 Tips For Choosing The Right Real Estate Company in Dubai

When it comes to buying, selling or renting a property in Dubai, choosing the right real estate agency can make all the difference. With hundreds of companies to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide which one to work with. Here are our 9 tips to help you choose the right real estate company in Dubai.

1 - Research different agencies

Spend some time researching the different real estate agencies out there. Look at their websites, read reviews and testimonials, and check out listings to start to build a list of potential agencies that you might want to work with.

2 - Look at the company’s reputation

A good reputation is a key indicator of a company's reliability and trustworthiness. Look for a company that has been in business for a while and has a good track record of satisfied customers. Betterhomes, for example, was founded in 1986, making it the UAE’s oldest real estate agency, and we’ve sold over 30,000 homes.

3 - Consider their location

Some agencies only focus on specific communities in Dubai. If they don’t normally cover the community that you are looking to buy, sell or rent in, then they may lack the knowledge and experience to best serve you. You should therefore check that the agency has an agent/s specialising in your community and they have a strong track record there.

4 - Check for professional accreditation

The agency that you choose should be registered and licensed with the Dubai Land Department. This will ensure that they are operating legally and their agents are being properly trained and certified.

5 - Check for good customer service

A good real estate agency will have a team of friendly and helpful agents who are willing to go the extra mile to serve you. Make sure that you choose an agency with a team that are responsive and easy to communicate with.

6 - Look at their additional services

When choosing an agency, consider whether you might require any additional services beyond buying, selling or renting a property as this might be a factor in your decision.  Here at Betterhomes, for example, we can take care of the entire real estate process, including conveyancingmortgage servicesproperty management and short-term rentals

7 - Look at their range of properties

Have a look at the listings of a real estate company to see if they have similar properties to the one you are looking to sell, rent or buy. If you have an apartment to sell worth AED 500,000, and the agency only seems to deal with properties worth AED 1,000,000 and above, then they potentially don’t have the experience or clients to best serve you. Likewise if you have an AED 5,000,000 villa to sell, you don’t want to choose an agency that normally focuses on AED 500,000 apartments. If you’re looking to buy or rent and are unsure which area to choose, or your exact requirements, choosing an agency with a wide range of properties is a good idea.

8 - Check their online presence

When you are looking to sell or rent a property, the online presence of your chosen real estate agency can be crucial. Check whether they have a modern, user-friendly website from which to market your property. You should also ensure that they post their listings to the major property portals, like HouzaProperty Finder and Bayut, as this is vital to give your property maximum exposure.

9 - Schedule a meeting with an agent

Contact the real estate agency and arrange a meeting with an agent who specialises in the community that you are interested in. Think about things like whether:

  • They communicate well
  • They give you a good impression
  • They can answer any questions
  • They have a proven track record

Use this as an opportunity to judge whether you think they are the right fit for you.
